Farmingville, NY - On June 10, Supervisor Ed Romaine was joined by Suffolk County Legislator Rudy Sunderman to honor Boy Scout Andrew Minelli from Troop 29 during the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony held at East Moriches Fire House. Andrew’s Eagle Scout project was the construction of a brick and stone pedestal to house the statue of St. Teresa outside of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Mastic Beach.
The Supervisor also attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for James Kern and David Tremel from Troop 414 in Center Moriches. The event was held at the VFW Victory Post 414 in Center Moriches. James’ Eagle Scout project was to fund and build a bench and planter combination for the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park in East Moriches. David’s Eagle Scout project was to build three bulletin boards with plexiglass fronts for the Center Moriches High School/ Middle School Music Department.
“Congratulations to Andrew, James and David for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout,” said Supervisor Romaine. “Scouts are the leaders of tomorrow, and from what I can see of these outstanding young men, I say that we’ll be in good hands.”
Since the award was presented in 1912, no more than four percent of all Scouts have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than two million young men.
