I thank Peter Elkowitz and his staff for leading the way to making home ownership a reality for new residents in Brookhaven Town and across Long Island.”The mission of the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) is to provide housing opportunities for those who, through the unaided operation of the market, cannot afford safe and decent homes. They accomplish this mission through development, technical assistance, community lending, education and advocacy. LIHP established partnerships with federal and state agencies, local municipalities, Long Island businesses, other not-for-profit organizations and community groups to provide affordable housing and support services for low- and moderate-income Long Islanders. Since its founding 30 years ago, LIHP has assisted approximately 30,000 individuals and families.
