Farmingville, NY – On Thursday, July 12, Councilman Michael Loguercio attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the St. Joseph the Worker RC Church Community Garden in East Patchogue.
For many years, the church has operated a large garden on its premises for the community. Each year, the garden flourishes with many fruits and vegetables, and they are generously distributed throughout the area. The garden is a peaceful haven that never turns anyone away, and it provides a valuable lesson about respecting our environment.
Over the years, the original garden fence that protected the vegetation faced vandalism and natural deterioration. This resulted in deer, ticks and other bugs infesting the garden. As a result, the gardeners could no longer produce a successful crop.
After learning about this dilemma, Councilman Loguercio successfully obtained funds that were used to purchase a new fence for the garden. Many gardeners attended the ceremony, and they proudly gave the Councilman a full tour of the garden.
“I truly commend St. Joseph the Worker RC Church and all of the community gardeners for their ongoing service and unwavering commitment to this community,” Councilman Loguercio said. “They are the very reason that this community garden has existed for so many years, feeding countless neighbors along the way. We know that the garden will be successful for many years to come!”
