Farmingville, NY – On August 11, Councilwoman Jane Bonner (left) met with Rebecca Muroff (right) at the historic Miller House in Miller Place. She thanked Rebecca for completing her Gold Award project by archiving the Miller Place Historical Society’s photograph collection. It will help them prepare the photos to be transferred to an online database that the public can access.
“I would like to congratulate Rebecca for earning her Gold Award,” said Councilwoman Bonner, “Her hard work and commitment to community service illustrates that she is a true example of what it means to be a Girl Scout.”
The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girls Scout can achieve. This prestigious award requires an Ambassador Girl Scout to design and implement a project that serves her community. It must consist of at least 80 hours of service while making a sustainable impact. Each of these outstanding young women have been honored with letters, plaques and awards from local elected officials, legislators and even the White House at a council sponsored event. In addition, each was presented with a flag that was flown over the Capitol.
