Farmingville, NY – On August 14, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo co-hosted the Summer Blood Drive at the VFW Post 6249 in Rocky Point. The event was held in partnership with the VFW Post and New York Blood Center (NYBC). It resulted in 17 pints of blood donated to the center. The New York Blood Center has declared a blood emergency in the New York area because people are less likely to donate blood as schools are on summer break and families take vacations.

“The demand for blood donations rises in the summer and no amount collected is too small,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “Every two seconds, someone needs blood, so I thank the VFW and everyone who donated to help make the blood drive a big success.”
