Councilwoman Cartright Congratulates Three Local Eagle Scouts

Eagle Scouts Court of Honor ceremony

Farmingville, NY – At an Eagle Scout Court of Honor in Setauket, not one, but three young men were awarded the distinguished rank. On Sunday, August 12, 2018, Councilwoman Cartright sent congratulations and provided Town Proclamations to each of the three young men recognizing their accomplishments. Matthew Seyfert, Cole Palmer and Harry Merzin are all from Boy Scout Troop 70.

To become an Eagle Scout, a boy must first work his way through all preceding ranks while meeting certain requirements: earn merit badges, hold leadership roles and complete a community service project.

“These young men have reached an impressive milestone. Their commitment to scouting is commendable and their efforts to make the community better is greatly appreciated. From what I have learned, I believe each of these Eagle Scouts will continue to apply themselves and their futures couldn’t be brighter,” said Councilwoman Cartright.

The Eagle Scout projects are a hand constructed pergola and benches built by Harry Merzin for Angela’s House in East Moriches, which benefits families of disabled children; an overhaul of the flagpole flowerbed at the entrance of Three Village School District Administration building done by Cole Palmer; and the construction of seven free food pantry ‘blessing’ boxes for local churches and a mosque, from Matthew Seyfert.
