Farmingville, NY – The Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau’s volunteer Youth Board is holding its first ever Brookhaven’s Got Talent Poetry Slam! The Youth Board is seeking submissions from students who are currently in seventh through twelfth grade. Submissions will be accepted from September 17 through October 17. Selected poems will be read by their authors at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville on Thursday, November 29 at 6:00 pm.
Every person who submits a poem will be invited to attend the event on November 29. Each student who submits a poem will receive a certificate from the Brookhaven Town Board. The event will be recorded and aired on Channel 18 and the Town website for viewing. Arrangements can be made for students who want to submit a poem and would not like to read their poem in front of an audience.

The Youth Board is comprised of volunteers from the Brookhaven community who advise the Brookhaven Youth Bureau about issues affecting youth. All board members are appointed by the Town Council.
