Free Dog and Cat Adoptions


Farmingville, NY –  Supervisor Ed Romaine has announced that the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is offering free dog and cat adoptions during the entire month of October in celebration of “Adopterfest.” The normal fees will be waived and include free neuter or spay, vaccinations, microchip, license, heartworm test, flea and fecal.

On Saturday, October 20, the shelter will hold its annual “Barktoberfest” from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. It’s a rain or shine event held at the shelter and there will be a costume contest, gourmet dog biscuits and free adoptions.

On Saturday, October 27, the shelter will hold the annual FREE rabies clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets. The event will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Other vaccines will be offered, including Caine and Feline booster shots $20, Bordatella (Kennel Cough) $20, Lyme and Lepto $25, Feline Leukemia $25.

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
