Town Demolishes Zombie Houses on Lincoln Drive and Quail Road in Mastic Beach

Councilman Panico in front of Lincoln Drive Demolition

Farmingville, NY –  Recently, Councilman Dan Panico was on-hand for the demolition of two “Zombie Houses” in Mastic Beach located at 53 Lincoln Drive (pictured) and 6 Quail Drive in Mastic Beach. Both houses were abandoned and vacant for more many years and the source of resident complaints. They were demolished in accordance with Chapter 73 of the Town Code which provides a “fast track” to rid neighborhoods of unsafe structures. The cost of demolition and debris removal is the responsibility of the property owner, and the Town places a lien on the property that is then placed on the tax bill. The County reimburses the Town and then they collect the money from the property owners.

Councilman Panico said, “Block by block, we are removing the blight and decay in the area. We are cleaning up the community by removing these blighted structures and raising the quality of life and property values in the area. It will be a great day when we can declare that there are no more demolitions to occur. We aren’t there yet, but I am confident we will get there.”
