Farmingville, NY – On October 21, Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright celebrated the 25th Annual Walk for Beauty/Hercules Run in Stony Brook. Hundreds of 4k and 6k walkers, and 10k runners took to the streets to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research at Stony Brook University Hospital. A portion of the funds will help pay for wigs and prosthesis for cancer patients. The event, which was established in 1994, is an all-volunteer initiative with no administrative costs and all proceeds stay in the community. Councilwoman Cartright said, “All the participants in the walk and run are an inspiration and I am happy to be a part of this wonderful, unifying event. It’s a real celebration of community spirit and joy, which proves that together, we can truly make a difference. WMHO and all the community volunteers who make this event possible are to be congratulated for reaching 25 years of service and making significant contributions to breast cancer research."
