Farmingville, NY – At the October 25 Town Board Meeting, Councilman Michael Loguercio presented a check for $1,100 to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Long Island Chapter Coordinator, Stefanie Taylor. The money was raised by the Town of Brookhaven Division of Women’s Services through the sale of pins and bracelets during the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s (NOCC) “Teal Connections – Ovarian Cancer Knows No Age” panel discussion held on September 26. The event featured four women who shared their experience with an ovarian cancer diagnosis. At the August 2 Town board meeting, Councilman Loguercio sponsored a resolution, which was unanimously adopted, to declare September to be “Ovarian Cancer Month” in the Town of Brookhaven. Councilman Loguercio said, “Nearly 1 in 78 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer every year, but we can get those numbers down through donations to groups like the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. I thank my fellow Town Board members and all the those who attended the ‘Teal Connections’ event for their generous donations to help fight this dreaded disease.”
