The Town of Brookhaven's Department of Parks, Recreation & Sports and Cultural Resources offers a series of weekly programs and classes at our various recreation centers.


Holiday Themed Craft Classes


Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center

  • Children's Holiday Craft Class: Ages 3-5
    $10.00 per child
    Thanksgiving Craft:
    Children will make a turkey picture frame. 
    Bring your own photo.
    Friday, November 16th at 12:30pm - 1:30pm
    Winter Holiday Craft:
    Come and create a snowman and candy canes!

Ko Cares


St. Michael's Recreation Center

  • Ko Cares: Culinary Program: Ages 8-16
    The Ko Cares Culinary Program will teach youth how to prepare low-cost meals. They will learn about food and nutrition to help encourage healthier food choices for themselves and their families. Youth will enjoy their own meal creations.

Skobliki Scientists

Robert E. Reid, Sr. Recreation Center

  • Skobliki Scientists: Ages 3-5
    $10.00 per child
    Turkey Trouble:
    Learn all about our amazing feathered friends in this interactive science class and create a terrific turkey craft too!
    Monday, November 19th at 12:30pm - 1:15pm 
    Who Hibernates:
    Ever wonder where all of the animals go in the winter? Learn all about hibernation, meet a live friend who hibernates and create a cool craft too!
    Monday, December 17th  at 12:30pm - 1:15pm

Come join us at our annual lighting of the tree and enjoy entertainment and character meet and greets while waiting for Santa to arrive by helicopter. Preview the indoor walk-through Holiday Spectacular light show!

Santa Comes to Longwood Estate

$5.00 per child (ages 12 and under)

Explore the grounds of the estate on an old fashioned sleigh ride and enjoy roasted chestnuts and popcorn on an open fire. Children can visit with Santa and have family members take photos. Don’t forget to bring your letter to Santa. Please include child’s name and address in letter so Santa can respond. Hot chocolate, holiday crafts, train display and more. Interface Program will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children in need.

Gingerbread House Craft

Pickleball Clinic
Spooky Walk
Table Tennis Tournament

THIS PAST MONTH:

During the month of October the Parks & Recreation Department hosted a series of fun and engaging activities for all ages. On October 3rd & 4th intermediate players came out to participate in our Pickleball Clinic and learned more about the sport and rules of the game. On October 20th we hosted our 2nd Table Tennis Tournament. Players competed in the single's and double's division and medals and prizes were awarded. Look for our next Table Tennis Tournament in the Spring. To end the month, we celebrated Halloween with a FREE EVENT at our Robert E. Reid, Sr. Recreation Center in Shoreham. Boy Scout Troop 161 carved pumpkins and decorated our spooky walk. Children and adults came in costume to stroll the spooky pumpkin walk and receive a treat.  Be sure to like us on Facebook to stay up to date with all our upcoming events and activities.
