Home and Garden Show

Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro is inviting all residents to attend the Annual Brookhaven Town Home & Garden Show, benefiting the Holtsville Ecology Site, this weekend and next.

The event, which will be open March 23-24 and March 30-31, will feature vendor exhibits including: flowers, landscaping, fencing, stonework, siding, windows, gutters, sunrooms, garden centers, solar and more. In addition, with paid admission, visitors can participate in free educational workshops and hands-on classes for children. Seminar topics include composting, organic tree care, flower arranging, edible gardens and animals; kids’ workshops include recycling and water conservation crafts, gardening fun and book readings with a local children’s author. View a comprehensive schedule of seminars; classes and workshops are subject to change.

“After a long, cold winter, homeowners are always anxious to view some unique and innovative ways to beautify their properties,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “I hope families will come out to enjoy the wide variety of home improvement ideas our local vendors will have on display—from replacing walkways and getting more creative with landscape design to building firepits and enhancing outdoor living space.”

The show will run March 23-24 and March 30-31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost of admission is $6 for adults; children 16 and under are free. Discounted tickets are available for pre-purchase online. Parking is free, as is the opportunity to walk through the Animal Preserve, home to more than 100 injured or non-releasable wild and farm animals, which will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, this year, vendors will be raffling off prizes at the end of each day. And, families can visit with the Easter Bunny each day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“All proceeds from this event will be used to benefit the Holtsville Ecology Site, one of our Town’s hidden gems,” Losquadro continued. “Over the years, so many families have enjoyed and appreciated all the Ecology Site has to offer. Investing the proceeds from this event directly back into the Ecology Site will help to ensure there is adequate funding to support its continued operations.”
