Educational Programs

Nature Center

The Mount Sinai Marine Environmental Stewardship Center (MESC) is located in Mount Sinai, within the Town's Beach / Marina complex at Cedar Beach. The mission of the MESC is to provide residents with a place to enjoy and experience the natural environment and to gain an understanding in the role man plays in its protection and conservation. The MSRC has living displays that include aquariums and an outdoor touch tank; interactive interior displays using touch screen monitors, and a submarine room where touch screen computers give you an animated view of the life in the Long Island Sound. A 700-foot long boardwalk allows you to take a walk within the dune system and interpretative signs along the way introduce you to the plants that make this a critical habitat. Groups may request a tour from our Environmental Educator, Nicole by calling her at 631-451-6639.
